WHAT IS A STARTER?

The starter is what initially turns your engine over to make it fire until it has started to run on its own.

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

• One of the most common signs of a starter that requires replacement is an intermit no start.  This will usually be a clicking noise only when the key is turned. 

• You may notice a grinding noise when trying to start the vehicle as well.  This is caused when the vendex does not fully engage.

• Your charging system as a whole should be inspected every six months when in for service.  This test (referred to as an A.V.R. test) will check the starter, battery and alternator for proper operation and can save you the hassle of being stranded or the extra expense of sub-sequential damage.

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing your starter at the first sign of failure is likely to cause damage to other charging system components or the fly-wheel due to not engaging fully.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  Have your charging system inspected every 6 months / 6,000 miles or 10,000 km to ensure the reliability of your vehicle as well as avoid any further cost.
